Rental of a transport vehicle in Ukraine is governed also with provisions of the special clauses 797 to 805 of the Civil Code of Ukraine.

Scope of the rental contract includes air, sea, river ships and self-propelled on-ground vehicles, etc. as well. The rental contract for a transport vehicle can stipulate that the vehicle is transferred to the tenant together with team, which maintenances the same. Also the parties of such rental contract are free to agree accommodation of complex services to the tenant, which are required for normal use of the transport vehicle (as provided by clause 798 of the Civil Code of Ukraine).

In accordance with clause 799 of the Civil Code of Ukraine the vehicle rental contract to be made in the written form. If either of the parties of such contract is a natural person the contract is required to be notarized as well.

Honoring designation of the rented transport vehicle, tenant has the right to use it on its own discretion without additional consent of the renter.

Clause 801 of the Civil Code of Ukraine provides that the tenant is obligated to maintain the transport vehicle in the due technical condition. The tenant is responsible for all the costs related to use of the transport vehicle including payment of applicable taxes, fees and duties.

The transport vehicle is to be ensured by the tenant (the requirement of clause 802 of the Civil Code of Ukraine).

If the transport vehicle is damages within duration of the rent, the tenant has to reimburse such damages to the renter if he is unable to prove that the damages happened through no fault of him as it is provided by clause 803 of the Civil Code of Ukraine.

The tenant is also responsible for damages, which have appeared to the third persons due to use of the transport vehicle.
