The administrative courts (in Ukrainian language named as "administratyvni sudy") are competent to try the public administrative disputes arising from various administrative acts of the state authorities related to their power authorization. This type of Ukrainian courts is rather popular due to their exclusive competence to try tax disputes between various tax inspections and administrations and tax payers.

The county administrative courts have territorial jurisdiction over a region. Kiev city and Sevastopol city due to the importance of these cities and the large number of authorities there have their own city circuit administrative courts.

The county administrative courts try disputes involving a state body (except criminal cases and those involving administrative violations). At the same judicial level, local common courts can act as the administrative courts, when trying disputes involving a local authority or an official of the same arising from various administrative acts of such authorities related to their power authorization.

Most administrative courts of appeal have their territorial jurisdiction over several neighbouring regions. Judicial decisions can be further appealed to the Highest Administrative Court of Ukraine and ultimately, in certain cases, to the Supreme Court of Ukraine, which are accordingly the cassational authorities in such issues.

The Highest Administrative Court also acts as court of the first instance in disputes concerning national elections, referendums and registration of presidential candidates, of course if the same arising from various administrative acts of the state authorities related to their power authorization.
